Cosmetic Tattooing

Tattoo Removal

Tattoo removal uses a precisely-targeted beam of laser light to break tattoo ink into microscopic particles that your body's immune system then gradually clears over the weeks and months following treatment. The process is highly selective — the laser targets the ink without damaging the surrounding skin.

At Platinum Cosmetic Skin Clinic, tattoo removal is delivered by Camilla, our specialist Dermal Therapist, at our Hawker Clinic. Camilla uses laser tattoo removal technology to clear or fade both cosmetic tattoos (old microblading, eyeliner, lip tattoos, brow work that no longer suits) and small to medium body tattoos. Removal is a course of treatments — the number of sessions varies based on size, colour, depth, age, location and skin type. Camilla assesses all of these factors at your initial consultation and gives you a clear plan from the start.

We're best suited to cosmetic tattoo work and small-to-medium body tattoos. For very large pieces or full sleeves, Camilla can advise at consultation whether we're the right fit, or whether a dedicated tattoo-removal studio would suit you better.

Important: Tattoo Removal is delivered by Camilla at our Hawker Clinic only. If you're a regular Queanbeyan client, please factor travel into your booking.

What People Come In For

You have an old tattoo — cosmetic or body — that no longer suits how you want to look. Maybe it's outdated microblading, an eyeliner tattoo that has migrated or changed colour, a lip tattoo that has faded unevenly, or a small body tattoo from a different chapter of life. You want to clear it, or fade it enough to consider new work over the top.

Common reasons clients book tattoo removal:

  • Old microblading, ombré brow, or feather-touch brow tattoos that have changed colour, migrated, or no longer suit your face
  • Eyeliner tattoos that have spread, lost shape, or look dated
  • Lip tattoos that have faded unevenly
  • Small body tattoos from years ago that you'd like cleared or faded for cover-up work
  • Preparing for new cosmetic tattoo work — a few fade sessions before fresh brow, eyeliner or lip tattooing gives our artists a clean canvas

About the Treatment — Course of Sessions

Tattoo removal is a course of sessions, not a one-off. Each session breaks down a portion of the ink, and over the following 6–8 weeks your body clears those particles via the lymphatic system. After this interval, we treat again, and the process repeats until the ink is sufficiently cleared.

Number of sessions depends on:

  • Size and density of the tattoo
  • Colour (black and dark inks respond fastest; reds, oranges, yellows and light blues/greens take more sessions)
  • Age of the tattoo (older typically fades faster)
  • Location on the body (areas with better circulation clear faster)
  • Type of ink used (cosmetic vs. body ink behave differently)
  • Individual skin response and general health
Cosmetic tattoos may need 4–10 sessions for full clearance; small body tattoos typically range from 5–15+ sessions. We give you a clear estimate at consultation and revise as we see how your skin responds. Sessions are spaced at least 6 weeks apart to allow proper healing and ink clearance.
