Fractional Laser Resurfacing is a skin resurfacing treatment that supports significant improvement in skin texture, tone and quality — with substantially less downtime than traditional ablative laser resurfacing or deep chemical peels.
The laser delivers an invisible beam strongly absorbed by water in the skin. The beam is microscopically thin — about the diameter of a human hair — and creates thousands of tiny treatment zones across the skin in a single session, leaving the surrounding skin intact. This "fractional" approach allows for rapid healing while still stimulating substantial collagen remodelling.
At Platinum Cosmetic Skin Clinic, our Fractional Laser treatments are delivered using a clinical-grade fractional laser device, by Camilla (our Dermal Therapist) and Reanna (our Senior Registered Nurse) at our Hawker Clinic. Over the 3–6 months following treatment, the skin continues to remodel and improve as collagen forms within the treated zones.
Important: Fractional Laser is offered at our Hawker Clinic only. If you're a regular Queanbeyan client, please factor travel into your booking.
What People Come In For
You're looking for a treatment that can address multiple skin concerns at once — texture, tone, pigmentation, scarring, fine lines — without weeks of downtime.
Common reasons clients book Fractional Laser:
- The appearance of sun-damaged skin
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Age spots, sun spots and uneven pigmentation
- The appearance of acne scarring and other surface scarring
- Improving overall skin texture and tone
- Hair density support (selected cases — discussed at consultation)
How Fractional Laser Works
The laser creates thousands of microscopic treatment zones in the skin during each session — each zone smaller than the diameter of a human hair. The surrounding undamaged tissue allows rapid healing and immediate support to the treated areas.
This controlled micro-injury triggers:
- Collagen and elastin remodelling
- Cell turnover and surface renewal
- Pigment fragmentation in spots
- Texture refinement
Number of sessions depends on your concern:
- Pigmentation: typically 1–2 sessions
- Wrinkles or acne scarring: typically 3–5 sessions
- Sessions are spaced approximately 4 weeks apart
